I like Molly’s in Tijeras. They have outdoor live bands in the summer, reasonably priced drinks, friendly staff, and interesting patrons that are truly locals. Molly’s closes at 9 pm, which is an advantage, if you have to work in the morning or want to watch Jay Leno when his new show starts.

There is generally something going on in Madrid.  The Mine Shaft Tavern, another place full of local flavor, usually has music Friday through Sunday evenings, and sometimes during the week, and some of the other restaurants in town, such as the Hollar and Java Junction, will periodically have entertainment.  During the summer months, there are often different festivals going on.

The Mine Shaft is definitely the main entertainment stop in Madrid. I always enjoy a beer on the porch… just watching the world go by.

It must be 5:00 o’clock because that sounds perfect right now!

Did anyone else see actor Gary Farmer’s band at the Mine Shaft Tavern on March 28th?  They were smokin’!  Gary lives in Santa Fe now so hopefully he’ll be back soon.  Until then you can always rewatch his movies “Smoke Signals” and “Pow Wow Highway”.
