I am an experienced fairly conditioned bicyclist and plan to ride the trail from tijeras to santa fe this coming may.I will do it fairly leisurely over 2/3 days spending nights in b&b’s or hotels along the way.
It looks like the ride is mostly uphill to madrid which seems to be the first place to find lodging. Is there any lodging between cedar crest and madrid? it’s hard to anticipate the duration of this first 30 miles on a bicycle climbing.
Any information or experience would be appreciated.
thanks

The distance between I-40 and Madrid is 28 miles. There is a 7 mile climb leaving the interstate through San Antonito/Frost Rd and a 4 mile hill just before the downslope into Madrid. I can suggest several places to stay that are in the Cedar Crest area. More details about them are in their listing on the turquoisetrail.org website. Look for Turquoise Trail Campgrounds (cabins), Cedar Crest Country Cottage & Stables, Elaine’s B&B - all along Snowline Drive in Cedar Crest, and Angel’s Ascent B&B, Sandia Park.
