In 1976, Johnsen and Swan started working with leather. They create bags, custom chaps and corporate leather gifts in their studio in the quaint restored ghost town - Madrid, New Mexico.

Judy Swan is an award winning leathersmith. She has shipped her work world wide. Her creations have been featured on the premiere 2003 show of the Antiques Road Show, as well as the CBS Morning Show. She was the subject of a feature article in the Albuquerque Journal Boomer Magazine in April 2005, and her craftsmanship was acknowledged in an article in "Motorcyclist Magazine" (November 1997), where she acquired the name "chapchick". Additionally she was asked to write an article for "IronWorks Magazine", July 2007.

Swan also represents many of her artisan friends known for their woodwork, pottery art, jewelry and biker accoutrements, along with the bronze windbells of famed architect Paolo Soleri.

You are welcome to visit her studio and gallery located in Madrid, on the beautiful Turquoise Trail - a National Scenic byway and the location of the filming of the Walt Disney biker comedy WILD HOGS.
